Friends

Over the last week I have had the opportunity to hang out with some really great friends that I don't get to see that often. Last Wednesday EK and I had lunch with my good friend Kimberly. Kimberly and I worked together at my first real job (if you want to call it that!) at First National Bank (now My Lubbock Bank). Although I didn't work there for very long, we have remained friends over the years. I am always running into her and her mom at the mall, but it's been a while since I've had a chance to sit down and visit. It was so nice catching up with her and letting her meet EK!

Then on Thursday night Brice stayed home with EK while I went to dinner with my teaching friends. I think I've mentioned this group of friends on here before, but we all met while attending the First Year Teaching Academy last year. I truly believe that God put us together for a reason. We have all been through so much together and it's been really nice to have friends to confide in and share life's experiences with at work. Over the last year and half, among the 6 of us, there have been 4 babies born, 3 miscarriages, 2 rounds of IUI, and 1 round of IVF. So needless to say, we have been through our share of struggles and hard times. But anytime we get together we always have the best time with lots of stories to share and lots of laughter! I have been so blessed by this group of girls over the last year and a half!
(minus Brooke, I'm not sure where she was!)

And finally, last weekend my good friend from college, Jenny, came to town to visit. I met Jenny my freshman year at ASU. We weren't that close our freshman year, but through Phi Lamb we became really close and are still good friends today. We had a great time shopping, eating, watching movies, and just hanging out! And she picked a great weekend to come because Brice was gone on a hunting trip. I was so glad I didn't have to stay here alone! :)
(a few years back!!)

Oh and I almost forgot, over the last couple of weeks I have also been in contact with my roommate from my freshman year in college, Candace! She moved to Nebraska our sophomore year and I haven't heard from her since, but thanks to the internet she found my blog. :) It has been so great catching up with her as well. Candace now lives with her husband in Florida (I'm so jealous!)...maybe we'll have to go visit them sometime!

I have been reminded over the last couple of weeks what a blessing friends are, and how important it is to be a good friend. I am not always that great at putting effort into friendships. It seems as if I can always find an excuse of why I'm too busy, or preoccupied, but I think it's time to make a change!

2 Month Pictures

A couple of weeks ago Denae took Emma Kate's 2 month pictures. Denae takes AWESOME pictures and she is actually getting ready to start a photography business. Once she gets started you should definitely use her! Check out her blog for some other pictures she's taken!

Thanks Denae for always taking such great pictures for us!!!

Happy Valentine's Day (a day late!!)

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I had planned on posting some pictures yesterday, but never got around to it. Emma Kate had her 2 month check up yesterday. She now weighs 11 lbs. 3 oz. and she's 24 inches long. She's in the 50th percentile for her weight and the 90th percentile for her heighth! Along with her check up she had to get the dreaded shots. I have not been looking forward to this at all, but luckily it was over very quickly. She did let out a cry, however, that was unlike any I've ever heard from her...poor baby! And I think it totally wiped her out because she pretty much slept from 3 yesterday afternoon until 8:30 this morning!
Needless to say, Brice and I celebrated at home. We watched a little Lost and Survivor (I love Thursday night TV, and I CAN'T wait for my other shows to come back on now that the strike is over!!). Although it wasn't extravagant it was still a great way to celebrate and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Then this morning Emma Kate and I went to her first Valentine's party at Will's house. I think she had a great time!! Denae did a photo shoot with all the kids and I can't wait to see all the pictures. :)

Here are a few pictures from the last week:

The other morning I went in to get Emma Kate out of bed and she was sucking her thumb!

She loves playing with her toys!

Pooped after her shots!

2 Months

What Emma Kate is up to at 2 months:

-She is really starting to smile and coo a lot more now...especially for her daddy! Brice had to go to Austin last week for Leadership Lubbock and right before he left for the airport she gave him the biggest smiles! I love watching them interact.

-Just in the last week or so she has become interested in laying on her play mat and looking at her toys. But her favorite thing to do is lay in the swing and look up at the mirror. It is the cutest thing, she will just smile and smile at herself!

-She is sleeping through the night now. We usually put her to bed around 10 and she will sleep until anywhere between 5:30 and 7:00, ocasionally she will wake up in the middle of the night and just want to be rocked...but I don't mind that! :)

-She is starting to outgrow some of her newborn clothes. In fact, it's probably about time for me to go through her closet and start putting things away. I took her to the weight check this morning and she weighs 10 lbs. 12 oz. I can't believe my baby is getting so big!

-She is starting to like tummy time a little better, and she's getting really good at holding her head up.

Sorry to bore you with all these random things...I'm really just trying to write all this down so we don't forget! I will leave you with her 1 month pictures...hopefully it won't take me a whole month to post her 2 month pictures!!
