Inspiration

Since I'm no longer working full time, I have really been trying to cook more often. One of the reasons I really don't like cooking is because I hate getting dirty and making a mess of things. So, I decided that I needed an apron. Thanks to the wonderful world of Etsy (which by the way is fabulous!!) I found an adorable apron that actually inspires me to cook more...it's just so darn cute I can't wait to put it on! :)

Check out Momomadeit for lots of other cute patterns! Another reason I really don't like cooking is because I feel like I always cook the same things. If you have any good, EASY recipes that you enjoy, feel free to send them my way! (I'm sure Brice would appreciate it) :)

Also, I have been trying to find a cute shopping cart/high chair cover for Emma Kate. I have narrowed it down to 2...what do you think?? (I'm trying to kind of go gender neutral just in case we ever have a boy in the future we can re-use it.)

I <3 Summer!

Summer has always been my favorite time of year, and this summer is proving to be no different! We have had such a great summer so far. Our days have been filled with swimming lessons, Vacation Bible School, walks in the park, cooking, cleaning (which I actually really enjoy!) and just hanging out. And this past wekeend Emma Kate got to stay the night with her LaLa and Pop for 2 nights while Brice and I enjoyed a fun river trip. It was so hard leaving her, but it definitely made coming home really exciting. :)

Emma Kate hasn't been herself this week, so I took her to the doctor yesterday and unfortunately she has her first ear infection. We have been so fortunate that she hasn't ever really been sick up this this point. It is so hard not being able to comfort her when I know she's in pain, but hopefuly we're on the road to recovery now that we have some antibiotics. We're praying that her ear would heal quickly and that she's back to her happy self soon!

In other news I found out last week that I will be teaching the 4 year olds class at Sugar and Spice Preschool in the fall. I'm so excited about the opportunity...it's only 2 days a week plus I will get to work just down the hall from Emma Kate's class!

And of couse here are a few pictures of our fun in the sun!
On her last day of school with Ms. Jane

Sitting up like a big girl!

Getting ready to go the pool for the first time!

This picture cracks me up...it's like she's saying what in the world is going on!!

Lounging by the pool

LaLa and Pop always make me look so silly!

Reading with Grandma

Emma Kate loves this book, it's one of those touch and feel books. If you look closely you can see that she's on the page with a kitten, it's hilarious anytime Brice reads this book to her when he gets to this page he will go on and on about how gross cats are and how she needs to stay away from them!

All ready to go to swimming lessons!

Hanging out with her friend Hudson

Reaching for a toy!!

With Daddy on the last day of swimming lessons

Brice and I at the Gristmill...oh that place is so yummy!!

6 months...WOW!

I just can't believe that my baby girl is already 6 months old. For some reason 6 months just seems really old to me and not so much a baby anymore! The past few weeks have been so much fun. Emma Kate's personality is coming out more and more everyday and it seems like she learns something new everyday as well. We are just having so much fun!

Here's what she's up to:

-She's rolling over like crazy now. The only problem is that she hasn't quite figured out how to get from her tummy to her back and she's still not too fond of being on a her tummy! She grunts and grunts trying to get back over but she has yet to make it. The last couple of nights she has actually slept on her tummy. It's like she just gives up and says fine, I'll just sleep this way!

-Any and everything she can get her hands on go straight for her mouth! I keep thinking she must be teething because she's drooling like crazy too, but we still haven't seen anything poking through.

-She has also found her feet! As soon as you lay her down on her blanket to play to automatically grabs her feet. My sister said that last week when she was giving her a bottle she held her feet the entire time she was eating...too funny!

-She is sitting up on her own now for a few minutes at a time. She does especially well if she's got a toy to play with.

-Here favorite toy right now is a little plastic guitar she got for Christmas. She got a few toys at Christmas that she wasn't quite big enough for so we just got them down from the closet and she loves them! It's so crazy that she's big enough to play with them. I remember thinking at Christmas time that she would never be big enough for them!

-She loves to read books...especially when her daddy reads to her. He's always making crazy voices. :)

-She's still eating oatmeal or rice cereal at night and today for lunch she tried sweet potatoes for the first time! She didn't know what to think about them at first but then she was opening big for another bite.

-We started Mommy and Me swim lessons on Monday and she does great in the water!! This makes me so happy, considering going to the pool is my favorite thing to do in the summer, I didn't know what I was going to do if she didn't like the water! She reaches out for toys in the water, she will lay on her back, and she even splashes the water when she's on her tummy. Basically the only time she gets upset is when I take the toy out of her mouth! Also, she went under today for the first time. I was really worried that she would get a mouth full of water and start choking, but she did great!

Happy Half Birthday sweet baby girl! We can't imagine our lives without you in it, and we are so grateful for the JOY you have brought us...WE LOVE YOU!!
